    BTW, the upper Mississippi river has been damned up on all sides since the 1930s'. Crop land used to be fertilized by the river every Spring flood. Not so anymore! Noe all types of chemicals are used on the crop lands and there is a lot of runoff to the river causing havoc with river critters.

      And somehow responsibility for the locks and dikes along the river still falls on the US Army.
