Stop biting your nails and picking your nose, and you'll get better.

My favorite exercise used to be hiking to the top of the mountain and back -- five miles and 500 feet of climbing. But Jane got to the point where I couldn't leave her alone while I went hiking. When she finally had to go to a home, my conditioning had deteriorated alarmingly. But ten months at the gym and a sustained program of walking has made all the difference in the world.

I paid monthly fee's to the local YMCA for about 30 years. My wife went and used it about 4 days a week. I went 3 times, didn't like their equipment, sat in their lounge and drank coffee waiting for my wife to finish.

Since Covid we no longer go. My wife walks 3 miles a day in our yard. I drink coffee in my den.

My cardiologist is a tough lady from India, and if she caught me drinking coffee, she'd turn me over her knee,

I would stay away from her. I'd rather have my coffee.

Wait until you have your first heart attack.

If you have a heart attack it would not be caused from coffee!

In my case it wasn't -- but caffein is a major contributor to heart disease.

You do know that next week all the medical "experts" will be stating the opposite don't you?

Just like "coffee causes cancer." Then, "coffee cures cancer."

Personally I'm part of the 20% of the population that does not drink water (straight). So I have to drink something that contains water and can't drink anything acidity like orange juice, most fruit juices, lemon aide, many soft drinks and etc. Even when drinking coffee I have to drink a brand that is mostly PH neutral.

Remember, we're all going to die of something. If you give up too many things you enjoy you're diminishing your quality of life.

The same with me! I've been drinking mostly coffee since I could walk....

I'm not a coffeeholic as it would seem but a cup in the morning does seem to jump start me and a cup late at night no longer keeps me awake.

This is an old skit from SNL probably from the 70's or so before they became political. I remember it well and often thought about it at my previous job where we worked 12 hr rotating shifts and had to drink coffee 24/7/365 to function.

I used to drink Infantry coffee -- throw a cartridge in the pot, and if it floats, the coffee is strong enough. If it explodes, it's hot enough.

I see why you left the service.

When I did shift work our coffee was very strong and sometimes bitter, almost as strong as espresso and I'm sure that extent of caffeine wasn't good for the human body but neither was the work and hours we kept.

Before Irish cream became popular some folks spoke of making their Irish coffee by placing a quarter in a coffee mug. Coffee was poured in until the quarter disappeared, then whiskey was poured in till you could see the quarter again. Not for me though--I'd rather contend with the exploding cartridge.

You speak of the old days -- a canteen cup full of water and powdered coffee, with a marble-sized ball of C4 stuck to the bottom and set alight. Flick the C4 off when the coffee boils.
