"Chosen" is a more accurate term than "elected".

If they are chosen from phone books they don't appear to be OUR phone books.

That's basically how the Romans did it -- Senators were called "Conscript Fathers" because they had an obligation to serve. They weren't any better than our elected dirt bags. The only hope I see for the nation is term limits.

The Romans had a horrible phone system though. What did they call the company? Ma Nimrod?

Term limits. No politician is going to bring this up because they want to keep their fraudulent occupation with unlimited, hidden money pouring in as long as possible.

If elections were fair we wouldn't need term limits as we could vote them out. As it stands now, once they get in they stay till they die in office.

Every politician should account for every penny they accumulate. Those that end up with millions whose salary is < $150k a year should have a lot of "splainin" to do.

The moment they're elected into office they begin campaigning in order to stay there.
And of course they use our money, not theirs.

And since they're campaigning they aren't doing their job. Sometimes that's a good thing though.

What they are really showing is they aren't needed.

I think we could get along very well with less than half of what we have there.
