    Remington Commemorative USMC M40 Questions

Remington Commemorative USMC M40 in .308. Does anyone have one of these? May pick one up if I can work the deal for $1K, still NIB (yes, it has the box). Good Deal? Are they accurate? Thoughts in general?

If you can buy one NIB for $1000, don't pass it up.

I have one, haven't shot it enough to say anything about the accuracy but $1000 would be cheap. I doubt you will see another.

NIB for 1K you should not pass it up as both a collector or a shooter. I'de pay a bit more than that for one NIB

I will get it tomorrow. Will use it as a shooter. Will probably mount a 24X Leupold on it.

Got it this morning. The closer I look at it the more I believe it is unfired. Will pair it up with my USMC 40X.

Sounds like a good deal, but early ones had some accuracy issues.

Mine shoots 1MOA and under out of the box. Did it have the sling and medal or USMC coin in the box also?

No coin, but the sling and the scope mount and rings came with it. I also have this being shipped to me: http://swfa.com/Redfield-3-9x40-USMC...pe-P61083.aspx

Well, I took the rifle to the range this morning. Fired 20 rounds of Spanish surplus ammo through it to break in the barrel. Fired one round then bore brushed, then a swab with Hoppe's, then a clean patch....then another round for ten rounds. Once that was done switched to two rounds fired and the brush, swab and patch. The rifle is wanting to shoot, 1/2 inch groups at 50 yards to start (first 10 rounds), and one inch groups at 100 yards (second 10 rounds). Occasional flyers.......probably due to the eight pound trigger pull the rifle had. You will note the key word "had". Took it to a friend who is a 'smith and he adjusted the trigger down to 1 1/2 pounds of pull. Will take it to the range again on Monday morning with Black Hills 168 gr Match ammo for further shooting. Once I am satisfied at 100 yards will go to the 200 yard range. So far I am pleased with the rifle and the scope.

This morning I took the rifle back to the range. Resighted at 100 yards (new trigger pull and rifle had been out of the stock), Cold barrel shot at the 12 O'clock on the 10 ring. The next three shots in the X-ring. Moved to 200 yards, readjusted the scope to shoot center mass. Then two rounds on either side of the X. Figured I'd leave well enough alone and went home.

                          Remington M40 commemorative

                          Good Day,
I purchased one of the Remington M40 commemoratives about 6 years ago. It is a good rifle and I added the front block and rear sight mount for the redfield sights. Additionally, I purchased one of the Leupold "M40 USMC Sniper" marked 3x9 scopes from SWFA that was offered 5 years ago. I was lucky enough to find one of the correct flat sided safeties. Its a nice complement to my Winchester 30.06 target (US property marked) and my FN PBR rifle.
                          Regards,
                          Michael

You should drill and tap it for the old Unertl's. That would be sweet!

Finally took some pictures. Shot it at the range with Black Hill .308 Win Match 168 gr. Boat-Tail HP and got a .6 inch five shot group at 100 yards. Think it is a keeper.
