Got this about 3 weeks ago. Tall framed Nottingham built Raleigh 5 speed sportster re-badged as Eaton's Glider.
In the back of our Escape. Yes, it's a project.
Should have taken a better pic of it in original configuration, but that's all I could remember to do.

It get's just a little spendy at times, but keeps me out of the cathouses and bars etc. If I were to do a touring bike, this is the way I would go. Staying with the fenders. Intent is a rain bike, but there's a way to go with that yet.

Sweet ride. It's a lot easier on the bone cage than the racing frames I'm accustomed to.

Scored a German fireman's short sawback bayonet this morning. This is a scarce variety since adding the teeth was an extra expense. That and they were good for pretty much nothing - especially on the short bayonet. They're sharp as heck, though!

Got this small lot of RR items from online auction. I was mostly interested in the switch keys of various RRs. These were all made by Adlake. I still have my Adlake switch keys from a Chicago & Northwestern subdivision in S Dakota. The union pins are pretty much worthless IMO. Yes, I belonged, but with RRS, you actually need representation. Then there's a small pocket knife that was apparently given as an "attaboy" for good work. I'll post better pics when I have it in hand. Don't recognize the brand, but there's a small chance the steel might be good. I had a bit of seniority, so my last "attaboy" item was a Maglite I enjoy to this day - marked the the RR (UP) and subdivision. (coal line) SW

I've seen those key-ring knives before. They are made much like a nail clipper. I think I had an un-marked one when I was a kid~ around the time the plastic scaled "Mountie" knives were popular.

For a knife blade that was only ground on one side, mine was certainly very sharp, and it had the similar bottle opener and nail file accessories.

A couple better pics of the "top hand" award knife. Blade is quite sharp but no idea how many letters is would open before it would need sharpened.

Also in the lot was a small "Missouri Pacific Booster Club" pin. Maybe they brought donuts to union meetings? Never heard of anything like that before. SW

For an "atta-boy" award, those border on the you're kidding me stage, but from the markings, they went ahead and did it anyways.

Grandad said C.N. gave out R/R approved Waltham pocket watches for performance/time put in awards.
Top company award for a lot of years was an engraved Winchester rifle, or shotgun. I don't know the specifics of the models, or what had to be done to earn one- I was a little young for that stuff. Top awards probably went to corporate, anyways.

Yeah, that's almost a slap in the mug award. "We like your work so much, we spent $1.95 to show you!" At 20 years, I for a fairly nice watch with my name engraved on it. Last atta boy award was a Maglite which I very much like and use on a daily basis. D-cell instead of rechargeable, but I still like it. SW

For Christmas I mentioned receiving a ROKR Thompson full auto rubber band gun. Started on it Dec 26 or so. Finished it today! Getting the disconnector to disconnect on demand was problematic, but I finally noticed a splinter of wood was jambed where it needed to move. Works great now - even burst mode. You can do single shot... if you're quick. But it's fun to blast away. Down side was not being able to load the drum mag. Like at all. I finally gave up on that since the mag isn't needed to fire rubber bands. Bottom line? I think this was a plan by the children to drive me bonkers. It worked, too! SW
