I am in the Shenandoah Valley, known in the past as the Bread Basket of the South, and now know for Chicken and Turkey farms,

still has lots of cattle and grain too,

and being mid spring, everything is greening up really well

Condos: Been there, done that. We may be out of vacant lots along the waters edge. About the only way to build a new one is to tear down an old one. Most vacant property belongs to the state.

              finished roughing up the lawn...
I am amazed at the quantity of dead grass, dust and dried root systems I got up. I'd been putting out suet blocks for the birds most of last winter. I cut them off once the snow melted and they could forage on their own again. Still found some dead birds where the storms had flattened brush down trapping them inside for months on end. It doesn't usually do that here, up in the mountains behind the house, sure but it's rare down here in the valleys. At least it has been during drought years.

Birds have been hanging around in spite of being cut off, checking where I used to place their feeder and now they're going over the lawn like they expect to get paid for it.
Water's going and the grass is already responding nicely. Most of that is probably just rinsing the dust off but I'm glad I did this. My lawn needed it.

We now return to our regularly scheduled program.

What keeps that thing from digging up your good grass.

The little tines have some flex to them.
There's some green in the waste piles but you have to look for it.
