David Brooks wrote a column about this a few years back. Better educated men (who tend to be more liberal than their less educated counterparts) are more likely to be marriage material.

30.4% of custodial single mothers and their children lived in poverty

18.8% of custodial single fathers and their children lived in poverty

Single mothers make up the overwhelming majority of single parents, and they and their children are twice as likely to live in poverty as the general population (30.4% versus 14.3%.)

So your argument is "if you build it (human baby) they (baby daddy) will come"? Seems like a stretch to me. Marriage as an economic institution may no longer be a necessity. Or maybe cable TV shows about over&the-top expectations has muddled thinking such that weddings are thought of more like coronations now.

And if it happened to a teenager still in school, she was, RIGHTLY, treated like a leper--made an example to the other sluts in her school. Now, preggo sluts are allowed to become role-models in their schools, parading up & down the halls to show the other sluts that getting preggo is really not a big deal, no doubt telling them how she's looking forward to her first welfare check--which may be a pittance to an adult, but more money than many teenage girls have ever seen.
