I don't have to work with the pilot. Ask his crew what they think of him.
Shiftless day laborer? At the very least I'm talking construction Laborers! A trade unto itself. Do you think Hi-rises, shopping malls, airport terminals etc are built by amateurs? Some other tradesmen may put them down but I never will. (Electricians on the other hand....IBEW = I Block Every Walkway)
I mean ever since they began EEO they've kept spots open for the poor little minority folks. Meaning everyone except hetero-males. There are even quotas on some jobs. Most are fine and are educated and well trained. We get it done. The others like sissies and women out to prove something? Always a danger. Sometimes sooner, sometimes later, but that individual always...ALWAYS gets someone into trouble.
Having said that, I've worked with a number of women and a few lesbian carpenters who have nothing to prove. They're good mechanics and trustworthy. Gay guys will usually flame out at the most inopportune times. I saw a gay superintendent from San Francisco go to tears over a "scratch your head and say WTF" moment. He had to leave the site he was so worked up. He returned later and was "Sooo relieved" that we took it upon ourselves to rectify the problem.
Try running back to a hotel room for a good cry in a combat situation.
