So now the Big Question: Slick Willie, Obummer, other top Dems, will probably be Honorary Pallbearers, but will the man he loathed above all others in US politics be invited to the funeral? It would be good, for once, to not see hypocrisy prevail.

The last combat veteran who served as the President of the United States has died. No matter if you agreed or disagreed with his politics he took the oath and put himself into harms way as a young man for the nation. For those of us who have had to say good by to our dad and that I love you, it is a bittersweet. The family has lost a Dad, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. I find that I'm on an emotional roller coaster with this as my father in law was dying this time last year and I said good by to my Dad the year before.
My prayers have included the Bush Family.

            As have mine.

Combat veterans are rare among recent presidents -- the last was Kennedy (although both Johnson and Nixon were briefly in the Navy, and Regan was in the Army stateside.)

Don't forget to include in your prayers thanks that you're not looking at bitch Hilary's bloated face every time you turn on the TV news, & even more importantly, that two 2 new judges as far left as Ginsberg haven't been added to the Supreme Court. (Actually, 3 new lefties, as Ginsberg would have retired quickly with a Dem in office.) All this would have happened had Bush got his wish in the last election!

Does that apply to Stalin, Hitler (a decorated veteran of the Great War), Mao, Pol Pot, & a million others of the same type? Or how 'bout all the school-shooters & other mass killers of the last few yrs?

Gentleman can we just put aside our differences for a few moments. I wasn't a fan of the man but I do recognize the pain his family is feeling right now.

Politics aside Senior Bush was an upright American patriot. He can be vilified or praised as we see fit. His courage under fire and grace while in office should long be remembered and emulated

Are you equating George HW Bush with Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot and similar monsters? If not, your question is pointless.

Of course not, but it reveals the unthinking banality of your previous quotation--either it's true unconditionally or it's meaningless.

It's my understanding that death comes to all, though damned few are allowed the priviledge 94 yrs.

I would call equating Bush with Stalin and Hitler banal.
