To date we don't cook up firearms in illegal operations like they do drugs. I had a discussion with a nun who linked firearms and suicide. I pointed out that Japan has total gun control and a much higher suicide rate than the United States. Explain that.

I also pointed out that most suicide is caused by mental depression. "Are you telling me, Sister, that a man who was so depressed he would put a gun in his mouth and pull the trigger, would be magically cured if he couldn't get a gun -- and would go skipping and whistling through life from then on?"
