Our dept had many sub guns from the Thompson to the American Arms 180. I had more fun playing with one of our MP-40's and cheaper too. On a windless day the 180 would choke you and the 177 rds of .22 takes forever to load.

bought a MP40 yrs ago from a Sheriff's Office up in the Valley,

story was they had taken it from a drunk serviceman who was shooting at cows,,,, from a moving train, on his way home,

the dept managed to get it papered so it was transferable, and was using it for demo's and training (read that as fun)

they sold it to fund some other equipment

we flipped it later that year

Did you get to shoot it? My department had two [interesting true stories on them] and the Sheriff wanted to get rid of one to get more weapons. I traded with a dealer for three new M16A1's and some 20 rd mags.

The British had an arms dump at Siwa Oasis in Western Egypt during WWII. When I was a boy, prowling around Egypt, I found a Bren gun there, but my dad wouldn't let me smuggle it home.

Knowing you, what did you smuggle home?
