What's the problem here? Even Trump says this police misfire is way over the line. Nobody is saying looting is good, or that the protestors should do whatever the hell they want. Is the raw nerve that there are other groups out there with a stronger complaint, re: tyranny? It's shouldn't be a contest.

Since your only source of knowledge is looking things up you'll also find that it is considered a slang term by the dictionary. The blended word serves a simple descriptive function at times.

I've known many blacks that refer to themselves as "ni99ers" but would be greatly offended if anyone else called them such.

Gun Smoke is the one twisting now. Links are an accepted (indeed preferred) means here of introducing outside information. In this case, an example of non-derogatory use of the blended word. Chicom is not automatically derogatory or a slur. If you're offended, does this mean you are part Chinese or Communist? Because somehow you hardly see like the type to demand mindless political correctness.Last edited by togor; 05-29-2020, 05:57.Comment

[QUOTE=togor;584069]Ray does anyone here have a better working example of tyranny than a guy picking up trash outside his apartment, being drawn into a "papers please" moment with a cop, that escalated almost to fatality?/QUOTE]
There you go again picking one case out of tens of thousands of police contacts and arrests.....Comment

Ray it's true that most police stops go by the book. But it's the ones that go horribly wrong that cause the problems. Just like most people are law abiding, yet we have prisons for the ones who are not. Mistakes can be redeemed by non-mistakes, but only within limits. We don't let murderers off because of all the people they encounter that they did not try to kill. There you go again picking one case out of tens of thousands of police contacts and arrests.....
Here's another one that's hard to watch. The cops are yelling and shouting at a guy who has clearly given himself up to get up and approach a bunch of cops with guns drawn. As pants-sh*tting scared as he was, he made the right move staying where he was, on the ground, hands visible, until they finally approached. Supposedly he and grandma are getting charged but let's be honest those charges are gonna get thrown out. And all of this for a questionable call on a stop sign. And for good measure, people watching the vid have noticed the cops rolling stops signs themselves on the road to jail. Something is clearly wrong with either the training, the people or the culture. This didn't need to happen. Not even close.
All anyone has to say is "yeah minorities have a legitimate complaint when it comes to policing." But somehow to do that makes someone a turncoat. But I gotta ask....turncoat to what cause?Last edited by togor; 05-29-2020, 07:58.Comment

What's your problem with the arrest? She threw herself over him..Totally obstructing the arrest. ...The cops weren't wrong. She should have stayed out of it. Minority or not, she would have been arrested doing what she did if she was white...No legitimate complaint....Ray it's true that most police stops go by the book. There is bodycam footage on the web but harder to find (sorry don't have a link right now) that does a better job of capturing the tension. The driver has how many guns drawn on him, is clearly terrified as are his family and neighbors that one of these cops is about to shoot him. One cop is shouting at him over and over to approach the police, guns drawn. You do know that this is the #1 way to get shot by cops, right? So he stayed put until someone finally got a clue and they approached. Think about that for a second: the guy who supposedly is in the wrong here and clearly in mortal fear for his life nonetheless is the one who comes to the correct strategy before all of the officers who supposedly are trained for such moments. To see nothing to complain about here strikes me as the classic bureaucratic attitude in the face of public dissastisfaction--we're fine with our procedures, the public can go pound sand. This is why people don't like bureaucrats either, sometimes even less than cops.
Added: hey, here's a thought--how about as a training exercise, we make officers play the script of non-cooperative civilians subject to arrest, except the arresting officers are required to have live rounds chambered and point them as they would in an actual arrest. The disquieting sensation of staring down a half-dozen live barrels might help cops feel a little empathy. Just the possibility of an accident should make someone nervous.Last edited by togor; 05-29-2020, 09:07.Comment

No one has mention is that the burning in the city will affect the black community for the next several years.
Insurance on buildings, business will be raised and the business will have to raise prices to the community.
Cops won't want to do their job because of being hung out to dry for anything that the community doesn't like.
Business won't want to go there due to the community's outlook on the business.
Jobs will be lost as business are lost and the community will suffer with higher unemployment rates affecting black families/individuals.
Crime's against blacks will increase because cops are afraid of doing law enforcement.
More drugs will be sold in the black community for individuals to make money and this will continue to degrade the black community.
Who is the "winner" here? I see nothing but the blacks being the losers here and for generations to come. If this is "justice" then "justice" it is!
