      This is true. Just last month some of my light switches have mysteriously stopped working. I got them fixed. The house is almost sixty yrs. old.

        I did a lot of re-wiring in my house (knob and tube). Did not use Aluminum
        as it can corrode, especially in damp conditions.

          Don't know how long ago you are speaking of but I don't think aluminum is available any longer and hasn't been since it was banned/against code. Back in the 70's I was a teen in college so I wasn't into home repairs but I've never seen the stuff for sale.

          Back in it's day though there was tremendous media hype about it like how great it was, how much better it was than copper and of course how much less it cost.
