I think that the two lesson to be learned here are not that one should or should not give supplies to someone else but that 1) the West must, absolutely must, have very large stockpiles of consumables, particularly ammunition of all sorts and 2) that the West must maintain the manufacturing capability to quickly replace the consumables that are or will be used.

Its all very well to have an artillery shell that can identify and castrate an enemy general but if it takes two years to replace that artillery shell, you might be better off issuing your soldiers with kitchen knives to meet that objective

Just a question! Why would it take two years to replace that art shell? I would think all that has to be done is reorder them from the same company that made them before as they would have the specs and the prints to start making them again! And art shells are not difficult to make and can be produced quickly I would think!

I think that was a figure of speech.

If you don't have a surplus there's always a lag time on replacement regardless of the time frame.

During WWII, our war production made us enormously prosperous and ended the Depression -- maybe by ramping up military production we can help the economy while putting the Russians back in their box.

Maybe. That's a helluva big Maybe. We're talking Biden, not FDR and Truman.

You put your finger on the fatal flaw in any plan -- there's an idiot at the helm, with a contingent of morons to help him.

You can count on them doing exactly the opposite of what needs to be done.

That's their whole plan -- to do the opposite of what Trump did, bringing down the stock market, raising inflation, reducing real wages, making us energy dependent on other nations and so on.
